The New Year is fast approaching, and we cannot wait to say 👋🏽 BOY BYE to the year 2020. See ya later ‘unprecedented times’ – we are gearing up for a precedented 2021, thank you very much.
2020 has been a difficult year for all of us and with the number of blows we’ve taken throughout the past twelve months, we’ve been thinking about the ways we can set ourselves up for a great 2021, surprises and all. Whether it’s investing more time in ourselves and our self-care or finally doing that course we’ve always wanted to do, we’re committing to a year of self-improvement and growth and closing the doors to any negativity or turbulence that may be awaiting us. This coming year, we want to equip ourselves with the tools and mindset needed to take on a year of relentless growth and resilience. Are you with us?
So, what is on the agenda for 2021 and how can we set ourselves up for a year of goal-kicking, ugly-cry-laughing and all-around good times? We’ve listed a few of our goals and plans for 2021 to help you plan a year you can get excited about.
Goal #1: Invest in education
Whether it’s learning something new or starting up a side-hustle, 2021 is the year of investing in education because… well, you deserve to be your best self and if education is part of that journey to discovering who you are, then heck, go and get that certification!

Goal #2: Commit to a growth mindset 🌱
Ever wanted to be one of those people who could get through anything no matter what? Us too! That’s why in 2021 we are focusing on developing the tools needed to rock a growth mindset. If you’re new to the concept, a growth mindset is all about looking at difficulties in life as opportunities to grow or expand our current skills, knowledge, or experiences. A growth mindset is key in achieving our goals, as we are able to navigate uncomfortable situations with the knowledge that we are going to come out the other end with some sort of gain. So, even if the outcome is not what we intended, we have learnt something along the way. In contrast, a fixed mindset is the belief that we are essentially all stuck where we are, and that the circumstances we are currently in is what we have been given and are unable to move away from. No ty 🙅🏻♀️
Goal #3: Make 👉🏻 me 👈🏻 a priority
If there’s one thing we’ve learnt this year – asides from how to drink a glass of guilt-free wine in the middle of day #CovidThings – it’s the importance of spending time with ourselves doing things we enjoy. While some of our ‘self-care’ in 2020 might’ve been a result of quarantine and sheer boredom, we’ve found joy in the little routines we’ve developed, and we’re holding on to them for dear life in 2021. Did someone say morning gratitude practices and tech-free weeknights?
Here are some of our favourite ways to spend ‘me time’. What are your favourite ways to honour yourself?
· Curling up on the couch with a cup of tea and a good book
· Writing a gratitude list of 3 different things each morning
· Guided meditations
· Paint by numbers activities
· Going for a walk
Whilst this year has been full of ups and downs, we are so grateful for the lessons we’ve learnt and the opportunities we’ve been given. We are especially thankful for our beautiful clients who continue to show up and support us in the salon and online. We couldn’t have done this year without all of you. We hope that amidst all of the craziness of 2020, you are able to end this year with a heart full of hope and happiness and continue to be your authentic self.
